Just upgraded from Vera3 to Versa 4, as my Versa 3 battery is beginning to fail, am now to wishing I hadn’t bothered.
My Versa 3 app notifications worked seamlessly, this is far from the case on the Versa 4. By the way the notifications are essential for me.
So I went through the app guided walk through to replace the device, it upgraded the firmware etc seemingly without issue, but it soon became apparent that notifications weren’t popping up on the device screen at all. It would sometimes vibrate and the notification would be on the versa if I checked it, but it didn’t display automatically. They do appear on the phone.
I have been through the normal troubleshooting, Bluetooth is all OK, notifications are configured in the App and on the phone (Android by the way, z fold 5 which is all up-to-date, as is the App). Away mode or do not disturb are not configured and all permissions are present, SMS, Phone, background activity etc, syncing is all good.
So I decided to factory reset the Versa 4 device, clear the App cache and data, uninstall and the reinstall the App and start again from scratch. This ensured nothing was hung over from the Versa 3 instal/use. Again this appears to go OK.
On the Versa 3 I had “Quick View” disabled and the notifications worked, this does not appear to be the case on the Versa 4, if Quick View is disabled , I don’t get any at all. Is it supposed to be like, surely not?
Anyway with Quick View enabled I sometimes get a notification pop up, but it does always seem to vibrate. I have also restarted each device several times, forcing quite etc etc. Screen timeout is set to 15 seconds by the way.
On further investigation I found that clearing the Fitbit App cache on the phone allowed the next/first notification to come through correctly (although Quick View still needed to be enabled, grrrr) and then it goes back to vibrate only. If I clear the app cache again another single notification will appear, etc etc etc, a vicious circle.
I know this is long, but I want you to see that I’ve been through all the trouble shooting tips I can find and not just jumping on here without trying to resolve it myself, can anyone help?
