Hi all,
I saw an old thread about Fitbit watches miscounting steps for things like working at a desk, driving a truck, and showering. I couldn't find a solution at first until I changed the setting of the watch from "non-dominant" wrist to "dominant" wrist. The watch is on my off-hand but it appears to be very sensitive when in that setting and counts a lot of different movements as a step.
In doing this, the watch might not count a few steps that I did take but it greatly reduced the amount of non-steps it was counting previously and is far more accurate than it previously was.
Hopefully this helps some folks.

Hi @BWin21 - thanks for posting and that will certainly reduce non real steps a bit.
Steps are a bit of a misnomer but were chosen as a means to measure activity.
While walking it is used to measure that activity and in some cases distance. Steps counted from random arm movements also count as activity, and steps that don't count when say pushing a trolley are lost, so it is not an accurate measure of actual steps but more a measure of movement of some sort.
However it is not advised to shower with watch which is sensitive to heat and soaps as it can damage the seals.
Also I read it may be possible to enter driving as an activity to remove counting of steps - worth looking into.
