My almost 18 month old Versa 4 was lasting about 5+ days on a charge. Now after charging it overnight it barely lasts 20 hrs. before needing a charge. Screen is not on all the time and soft/firm ware has been updated. What gives? Planned obsolescence?

Hello there @iBmoonie, welcome to the Fitbit Community!
This situation is definitely frustrating. While "planned obsolescence" is a common concern, this drastic change is usually due to battery degradation or software/feature issues.

Estuardo,
I tried to do the reset as you mentioned in your reply, however, when I got my Versa 4 from the charging dock this morning I noticed it had not charged at all overnight and appears to just be completely dead. This is the third Fitbit product I have purchased that has DIED after only about 18 months to 2 years of use. I've tried to move the docking dongle to another USB port to charge the Versa 4 with no success. This problem went from bad (a quickly draining battery in 18 hours after the unit was working on a 5-7 day charge cycle) to now a completely useless Versa 4. Not sure I'll ever buy a Fitbit product ever again after being burned a third time.

Hey @iBmoonie, your concerns are totally valid, but there are some important things to keep in mind.
I notice you have some habits that might be affecting the battery lifespan of not only your Fitbit, but all your rechargeable devices.
Most batteries are made from lithium-ion, and their lifespan is measured in charge cycles. While it's very common to leave devices charging overnight, this can drastically affect how long the battery will last.
This is why many experts recommend charging to 80-90% for long-term battery health, and avoiding leaving devices plugged in overnight every single night.
In any case, since your device isn't charging anymore, let's try the few tips described here: Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?
