Versa 4 battery is draining quickly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've had my Fitbit Versa 4 about a year now after my Fitbit Versa 3 decided to die. At first everything was great, battery life was fantastic.

Few months in I noticed the battery dying after two days and changed how I used it. Turning off certain features, a little annoying but no big deal.

Fast forward to now. I'm having to charge my Fitbit almost every night or every other night if I'm lucky. I've uninstalled the app, restarted the watch and I've tried reading numerous other issues about the battery life to see if I'm missing something. I've checked updates, turned off even more features and it's now to the point where I'm posting here because I don't know what to do.

I charged my Fitbit last night and now at 10:15 pm it's at 55%. I currently live in NC so weather is hot and I tend to go for my walk/runs in the morning and sometimes the afternoon (depending on humidity levels that day) but i've read that extreme heat can cause the battery to drain quickly. I can't imagine I'm generating THAT MUCH heat to be killing the battery that quickly.

Can anyone suggest anything? I'm a recent graduate and still looking for work so I'm trying to avoid having to buy a new watch, especially since I've only had this one for about a year.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. I've stopped wearing it to bed to try to extend the battery life. And I've turned Bluetooth off at night as well. Not sure if this will help at all.

Thank you to any help that can be provided 🙏🏼

Hi @FreeElfEinky - firstly restart the watch by holding the watch button for 10 seconds till it blanks or vibrates and wait for the logo to appear and for it to start. Also restart the phone.

Fully charge it, say before wearing to bed normally and note battery decline in the morning, then charge it fully again and note the decline during the day.

The watch should have a sleep schedule defined.

If it declines rapidly during the day only, you may be using GPS which can kill the battery in 5-8 hours.

Make sure the terminals on the watch are clean because they can accumulate grime but don't damage them (by using metal or hard objects), so it charges well.

Fitbit says you can use rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush to clean the charging contacts. I use cotton ear buds usually but if it's been a while a wooden toothpick to gently clear grime and use a magnifying glass to see the state of the contacts.

Pull down on the watch face to get to Quick Settings and turn off all icons and to check battery level.

Next step is a standalone test to determine if the watch has a problem or it is elsewhere.
