Versa 4 exercise app doesn't stay on

I had a fitbit sense and loved it, but the band wouldn't stay connected to the watch, so I bought a versa 4, and am very disappointed.  The exercise app does not work, I turn it on and within minutes it turns off.  I have never gotten it to stay on for my entire walk.  Also, the watch goes to "sleep" all the time, even when I am using the timer.  Not sure if this watch is defective or what.

Thank you for providing the information regarding this difficulty with your Versa 4.

Please, could you provide a few more details regarding the difficulty? Do you mean, the screen is turning off while you are exercising? 

Versa 4 smartwatch has an always-on display mode that keeps the screen lit all the time. To turn on the always-on display. 

  1. Swipe down from the clock face to open Quick Settings
  2. Tap the Always-On Display icon.
The always-on display will automatically turn off when the battery is low.
 
I'd suggest you try to restart the device as indicated here: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

When I go to the "start exercise" screen, press the "walk" icon on the left,  it starts recording my exercise,  but within a few minutes it stops recording.   It does not record my exercise.  And like right now, I tried to start it and the screen went black,  then I have to wait for it to "power up" or come out of sleep mode.  And a couple times I have been using the timer,  for 2 minutes,  and the timer shuts off before it is done timing. Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
