Versa 4 goes into pause while running

My Versa 4 will randomly go into pause during my runs.

Why does this keep happening and how do I turn this feature off?

@Micki_S   The Run exercise shortcut has an Auto pause setting, that says it will pause your run if you are "inactive for a seconds."  A few seconds might be short enough to appear random.

• Short press the button and select your Exercise app
• Select Run
• Swipe up on the tiny "^" at the bottom of the screen
• Look for Auto Pause and make sure it is toggled to Off

And if @LZeeW's suggestions don't work, I believe it's likely due to the button on the side accidentally being pressed by your arm and that is pausing the workout.

Hi there, thank you ,I did this and it is still happening, not sure why.

Also the GPS would not engage or map my run when I toggled this feature off.

I have gps on and the auto-pause turned off. The pause continues to happen and the GPS did not map my run.

It did not work, in fact it somehow turned the GPS off.

Its very frustrating, I like to map my runs and would like for the auto-pause to not be engaged however it is still an issue.

As well it now seems that if i turn the auto-pause off the GPS will not work.

I thought that at first also, however I went for a run last night and I made sure there was nothing near my Versa..no sleeves at all.

I turned the auto-pause off and the gps would not map my run.

Not sure what is going on, hopeful this fixes itself because it is very frustrating.

@Micki_S GPS is a separate issue but make sure that the GPS setting is on indeed. If you see "connecting..." when you start the Run exercise then GPS is on. There is a chance it may fail to connect. That happens and you won't get a map.

Auto-pause should pause your run when you stop but resume right after the motion is detected so it shouldn't be a problem. I'd say it is more likely that the button is pressed accidentally (as @Heather-S mentioned already) or, also accidentally, you swipe up when the screen is awake. This happened to me multiple times due to a wet sleeve (sweat, water) or even rain falling on the watch's screen.

Hi there, it is strange that the gps would be effected by turning the auto- pause off, it may just be a coincidence.

The auto pause will stay in auto pause even after i continue to move. I physically have to touch the screen and hit the "yes" I still want to continue with my run.

I will be reaching out to Fitbit this week, it seems to be one thing after another with this Versa 4.

I love the watch and do realize there is a learning curve however I would like the watch to perform as it is advertised.

@Micki_S The Versa 2 had buttons on the side and it too suffered from spontaneous pausing of workouts. The likely culprit being the button is accidentally pushed by your arm in some way that you don't even realize you're doing it. Quite a few people had this issue with the Versa 2. The Versa 3 instead had no buttons and only had capacative "button" that provided haptic feedback and I never really saw any complaints regarding the spontaneous pausing of workouts with the Versa 3. However, the capacative "button" on the Versa 3 had garnered quite a few complaints from people (personally, I prefer the style of the Versa 3 and Sense without the button and I prefer haptic feedback as it feels more modern, but that's just me).

I think the issue of randomly paused workouts is largely due to the presence of physical buttons.
