Versa 4 is not tracking my exercises

Hello all,

My fitbit only tracks one exercise daily. Let's say I swim, play tennis and walk one day, in that order. The fitbit will only show the walk, and will only track part of the walk. Ugh. Any suggestions? thanks!

Hello @Sablemer are you manually starting the exercise tracker? Or letting Fitbit decide?

I know it shouldn't matter, but do you sync between exercises?

Hello there, @Sablemer. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 4 is not tracking all your exercises. I can understand how important it is to get all the details precisely. Let's see what's happening!

While reading your post, I was wondering if you use SmartTrack to record your activities? If so, I'd recommend restarting your Versa 4. For instructions, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Regarding SmartTrack, please know that most Fitbit devices automatically recognize and record high-movement activities through the SmartTrack feature. To start, the default duration settings of your Fitbit Versa 4 is 15 minutes long. However, you can also choose which activities your device tracks automatically, or change the amount of time needed to record the activity. To do so, please follow the next steps:

  1. Tap the Today tab , then tap the Exercise tile.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top right.
  3. Tap an exercise, and adjust the duration or turn off Auto-recognize.

You can learn more about the SmartTrack feature in this link How do I track my activity with my Fitbit device?

Keep in mind that you can also use the Exercise app to start and stop a workout. For more information, see How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?

Hope this helps!

Hello MarreFitbit, thanks so much for your reply.

I did restart my fitbit and read the instructions on the links you sent me. Unfortunately, to no avail. The fitbit used to track AND SHOW my various exercises during the day, so that if I swam, played tennis and walked, it would show all three on the app. Now, it only shows the last activity, and only part of it. Two days ago, I put it to the test again after having rebooted it, etc. I went swimming 1400 meters, then hiked 7 km. After my swim, it displayed the distance I swam. However, after my hike, it only displayed the hike of 3.5 km, in other words just the return portion of the hike and the last bit of the activity.  It is unfortunate, as it used to track all the exercises. That said, at the end of the day, it will show the total amount of kms covered (even though it displays the last exercise). Odd. But at least I have a total distance.

Thanks for trying to help in any case.

Hello Rich_Laue, thanks for reaching out.

I manually start the tracking. I used to let the tracking start on its own, but I started tracking manually a while back, hoping that things would improve. They didn't 😞

Thanks. My FitBit was no longer tracking my HR, Sleep, activity time. I thought I had turned these off inadvertently. Also, my 3 yo grandson gets his hands on it and I never know what he gets to, or what changes he's made!  The restart worked. (And I didn't know how to do that!)
