I just had a Versa 4 for about a month until it popped off while paddling a kayak in flat water. Unfortunately the water depth was about 40 feet so by the time I had a chance to react it was gone. This was my first smart watch that my wife bought me for my birthday. Is there anything better out there that doesn’t pop off so easily? Thinking of trying a different one but hesitant because I don’t want my wife to know.

Sad to hear what has happened with your Versa 4.
To not have this happen in the future I'd suggest using a band with a buckle while doing rough activities. So Fitbit's Sport Band would be worth considering:
