Versa 4 keeps resetting itself whenever I charge it

In the last 3 weeks whenever I charge my Fitbit, it shuts down and carries out a factory reset.  Once I have managed to charge it and pair it, it then insists on installing some updates before I can actually use it.  4 days later I have to repeat all over again.

It's never been a problem since I purchased it in 2023 until now.  How can I resolve this before I throw it in the bin!

Hi there, @Trakiplay. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 4 keeps shutting itself off whenever you charge it. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

If it crashes every time you charge it, it sounds like a battery or charging issue to me. Please note that there are some issues that affect this, being which power source is used and how clean the contacts are and how well the charger is seated. If you are charging your Versa 4 on the wall socket, try using another CE certified USB adapter for low energy devices.

If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend following the tips and recommendations provided here Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

If after trying the above the issue persists, please try the following:

  1. From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon at the top-left corner.
  2. Tap your Fitbit device image.
  3. Near the bottom of the page, tap Sync Now.

If the above doesn't work, please restart your Fitbit device as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? Note: Restarting the device doesn’t delete any data. If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I needed to wait until the Versa 4 needed charging before replying and then wanted to test it twice.  The suggestion above didn't resolve the issue.  However, I found that changing the clock face resolved the issue.

I now have a new problem where the steps on my phone are not the same as my Fitbit, the phone is not recording steps too and it has always worked fine until the last few weeks.
