Hi @ShelbHopper - no it shouldn't behave like that, but it's complaining for a reason.
Try cleaning the contacts before you connect the cable to the watch and then plug in to the power source, also try using a PC as the power source.
You can also restart the watch and change the clock face which can possibly have a bearing.
