My versa 4 has been starting exercises on its own! Even during the night when on sleep mode. I’ll be sitting on the couch not doing anything and it will start a run or whatever!
The screen is not very responsive either. It takes me forever to do anything with the touchscreen as I have to touch buttons just right in order to start exercises: when scrolling it will start unintended exercises on the list.
I have done the latest update and restarted the watch. I’ve o my AB’s the thing for 6 months! I’ve been with Fitbit for many years, but at the moment I’m considering switching to another brand all together!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @LizaRoos, it's nice to see a new face here!
Thanks for explaining your situation with the exercise app using your Versa 4. I appreciate the steps you followed in order to get this improved.
Versa 4 can automatically detect certain workouts and open the Exercise app after a few minutes. I recommend you to turn off this feature:
- Open the Exercise app.
- Tap the Bike, Elliptical, Rowing, Run, Spinning, or Walk option.
- Swipe up and turn off Auto Start. The next time your device detects this workout type, the Exercise app automatically opens.
You can check more information about this here too.

Thanks for your reply.
I don’t think that is it. While sleeping I don’t move so much that the Fitbit thinks I’m running or doing an elliptical. Also, when the Fitbit auto detects exercises, it will say for example: “walk detected” and wait a few seconds before starting the record. These exercises just start as if I am starting them by pressing the icons. It has never done this before until this week.
And what about the responsiveness of the screen? Today I wasnt able to set a timer because it kept flicking through screens and randomly clicking icons…. The watch is unusable this way.
It has gotten so much worse in the last week. What else can I do besides getting a new watch? These watches are not cheap and I’ve been very happy with Fitbit for many years, but I am very disappointed with the performance of the Versa 4. I shouldn’t have to turn of a feature (a selling point no less) to compensate for a fault in the watch.

I have the same issue after installing the update via the Fitbit app. It's not the auto start of exercises, but while the watch is on my wrist, without touching it (even without any clothing of bumping into something by accident) it will react if I were to touch it. It will randomly scroll through pages or indeed activate a training. My friend suggested that it might be the screen protector, but I've had it on before the update and had no trouble with it (and it's very thin as well). Could it be connected to the update?

Could be. I changed my clock face which has improved navigation marginally. But it still starts exercises on its own. I don’t have a screen protector.

Hello,
I'm having the same problem! It seems that it started after the newest update. I've tried restarting the versa 4 a few times and nothing helps. I've only had this tracker for 4 months. This is very disappointing. I tried shutting off the auto exercise but for so e reason that doesn't work. Right now I'm sitting here on my couch and it's saying I'm riding a bike! Fitbit, come on! This is ridiculous!

I’m getting the same issues, showing exercise when I’m not and unable to use the touch screen, as others have said, only started after update!
Really frustrating on both counts!

Same problem after last update. Thinks I'm working out randomly when I'm just sitting there doing nothing and the screen is basically unusable. When I try to touch it it hops all over the place. Watch worked fine before the last update.

I’m having the same issues since I did the update. Randomly just goes kinda crazy. Love Fitbit but this is a little insane.
