Versa 4 red X on display

Hi Fitbit Community,

I’ve been using my Fitbit Versa 4, which I purchased 21 months ago, and it has suddenly stopped working. Here’s what’s happening:

  • When I press the side button, nothing happens.
  • When I connect the Versa 4 to the charger, the Fitbit logo appears, but then the screen starts blinking between a blue and black background.
  • After a few moments, a big red X appears on the display, and the screen turns off.

I’ve tried the reset method suggested in the Fitbit Community forums. Occasionally, the device vibrates during the process, but it ultimately shows the same big red X and then powers off.

Has anyone else faced this issue? Any tips or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forums @sahanjith.

Thank you for taking the time to share the details regarding this difficulty with your Versa 4. Thank you for trying to fix it on your own.

Please, in addition to the steps that you already tried, perform the following points:

  • In the Fitbit app sync by tapping the upper left corner icon > your Versa 4 > Sync Now.
  • If 'Sync Now' doesn't work, tap the upper left corner icon > Versa 4 > Tile to see if the firmware banner appears.

If the firmware update banner does not show, please press and hold the side button for 10 seconds until the Fitbit Logo appears on the screen, then release the button.

To perform the "Sync Now" option, my Versa 4 device is no longer listed in the Fitbit app.

I tried adding the device using the "Add Device" option. The app prompts me to enter the 4-digit code displayed on the Versa 4's screen, but the screen does not turn on.
