My Versa 4 used to go into sleep mode after a short period of dormancy. Now it’s lit up all the time, severely draining the battery. How do I restart the automatic sleep mode?

Hi there, @Cameron66. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 4 stopped tracking your sleep data and that the battery is now draining quickly. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

It sounds like your Versa 4 has the always-on feature enabled which is draining the battery. To exit the always-on display and interact with your watch, turn your wrist toward you, press the button, or double-tap the display. For more information, see How do I see the time on my Fitbit device?

If by any chance the battery keeps draining quickly, please see Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?

Regarding your sleep data,
I recommend considering the following in order to get sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?
