Received email this morning asking me to factory re set fitbit. I have done this and just been out on bike ride to test and it still will not map the ride.
i feel this is a faulty  fitbit Versa 4.  Not able to let them know as i was told i go at end of queue again. Getting rather fed up now. Not satisfied.😡

@Dozyrosie  I have a Sense 2 and it has the same OS as your Versa 4.  When I tried to use my GPS, it would try to connect for several minutes.  Then I would get a red arrow with a  "No GPS signal" message.  I tested this on several shortcuts, standing in the middle of a football field (no trees or buildings).  I did a factory reset and now it works.  The Sense 2/Versa 4 take a loooong time to connect, longer than any other Fitbit I've used.  Does your GPS connect before you start or are you getting the No GPS signal message?  If you did a factory reset and your GPS won't connect, then I think you have a defective device.

Unfortunately from my own personal testing I've found the Sense2/Versa 4 GPS to be extremely poor. In fact the worst I've ever seen on a watch (and I've owned many). It appears that the GPS antenna is on the back side of the device (the part that sits against your wrist). You could try loosening it a little to see if that helps, but you may sacrifice Heart rate accuracy then.

Fitbit uses one small antenna for Bluetooth, GPS, and if the tracker has WiFi, making the antenna not tuned for a spacific task.

As for GPS search, I can't keep up. The Blaze kept searching, after a failure, my Sense 3 would give up. Where I've gone recently, my Versa 4, once it finds GPS, I haven't noticed a failure. And haven't really monitored to see what happens if GPS lock is never made. I might wrap with aluminum foil to force a failure.
