Came in to find my fitbit with the logo screen then a red X. It keeps acting like it's trying to update then back to the flashing logo screen and red X. I've tried pressing the side button to reset, this does nothing. I've deleted and added it again, no luck just the blue logo screen and red X. At this point I'm about to buy a new watch because this is frustrating.

Yes, basically the watch is toast and I ended up having to buy a new one. Again, frustrating.

Yep, add me to the list to the Red X of doom.
Watch died a week or so ago. Came back to life for a few days after the factory reset. Died again last Friday and finally came back to life for 15 brief minutes.
Been dealt with by Customer Support and got an offer of a discount as the watch was outside warranty. That's all well and good but it's just so frustrating when the Fitbit dies. I have a 2,000 day plus streak going of doing 10km a day in memory of my sister who died from cancer during Covid in 2020. The Iphone is getting me by but sometimes it's brutal at logging the exercises.
It's just frustrating!
