Versa 4 will not activate any more

My versa 4 has stopped working today.  It comes up to activate account, but it will not do anything after that.  Tried the manual reset, get flashing turquoise screen then a big red x.  No pairing information.  Tried switching phone off, bluetooth, force quit on the app but nothing.  Won't update.  This issue seems to happen about 16 months into having a new Fitbit.  How do I get this to work

Let me help you with the issue of your Versa 4 that has stopped working today. Thank you for all the troubleshooting you have already tried.

A useful hint is the fact you saw a big red X on the screen after the Fitbit logo. It seems the set up or firmware update have failed.

In order to resolve this, follow the instructions below:

First, don't attempt to unpair your Versa or uninstall the Fitbit app because you might not be able to pair the device again. Instrad:

  • Sync your Versa 4 in the Fitbit app. From the Today tab, tap the Devices > Versa 4 > Sync
  • If Sync Now doesn’t show an update banner, ask the user to tap the Devices icon > Versa 4 > Gallery. The app should show a pop up to install the missing apps and recover the device.
  • Restart your Versa 4. Refer to How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Thank you David for your response, unfortunately, the Versa 4 won't even bluetooth with my phone anymore.  It is completely useless.  Please advise what to do now, as this is an expensive bracelet now !
