Several months ago the UI was changed so that the Versa 4 screen would remain black from 10PM to 6AM. I assume this was done to save battery charge so the watch can display time (in a subset format) from 6AM to 10PM. This has been a terrible tradeoff for me. My gym opens at 5AM and I'm out of bed by 4AM. So before 6AM I cannot easily check how I'm doing timewise or during some particular exercise.
This morning the UI changed again. Now a wrist twist does nothing at all. The Versa 4 just displays the time and date like a dumb digital watch. (If it matters I use the white and turquoise watch face.) To see how many steps I've taken, or how many flights climbed, I must push the **ahem**ed button all day long. I rebooted the watch and iPhone but that didn't help/
I've been a Fitbit user since 2015 and have been very happy up until the UI began changing last year. The UI keeps getting worse. I do about 12000 steps and 33 flights per day, and almost always score 14/14 hours of activity with very low inactive times. I used to twist my wrist and see the steps taken today in the bottom left corner of the screen. Please restore that write twist functionilty. Or add steps taken to the all day long display.

Oops, I need to amend my problem statement. The first part may still be true. I'll find out tomorrow morning if I need to push the watch button a lot before 6AM.
However, the second part about needing to push the button a lot all day is not true. Maybe in rebooting the watch this morning I somehow changed a watch mode. I just changed it back and now a simple wrist twist displays (in the bottom left corner) how many steps I've taken so far today. 😀

Hi @Jim-R - the thing to do is to pull down on the watch face to get to Quick Settings and turn off all the icons so it works normally.
There is a scheduled sleep mode setting in watch settings, you can either adjust it or use the above solution if you are up earlier [note while in sleep mode you won't get any notifications]
