Hi Guys,
I have a question.
In my app I can install how many calories my goal is for a day.
example now it says that I have burned 2500 calories. Is this accurate?
And can’t I just install that I want to see how many calories I have burned by the steps I walked?
sorry for my english 😛

That 2500 calories burned is as accurate is Fitbit can measure. You cannot get your calories just from your step count. Assuming you have a tracker that measure heart rate (you didn't mention your model), Fitbit calculates your calorie burn from your heart rate and basic measurements, particularly weight. The more strenuous an activity, the more it will raise your heart rate and burn more calories. As a simple example, consider walking uphill or downhill the same number of steps. Uphill is harder work, raises your heart rate, and burns more calories. Some activities don't involve steps. Overall heart rate is a more reliable measurement of calorie burn. Also Fitbit includes BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) calorie burn, the calories you are always burning just to stay alive. These generally account fort over half the calories burned during the day, and require no steps. These calories are credited even when you are not wearing the watch.

Thankyou for your answer.
i asked my question when i clicked on versa 4 model, so i assumed that you could tell what model I’m wearing. ( it measures my heart beat ) 🙂

And do you perhaps know how Many calories i need to fill in for my goal, or where I can calculate this?

I guess it depends. Is this for a certain goal weight, or just in general? Is it that you are trying to lose weight, stay the same, or just looking to have a number there to aim for?

Hi Johnnyrow,
Excuse me for not answering your response.
i’m new Here so I didn’t know where to find my topic 😛
it’s for losing weight.
and I have another question, mostly of the time I’m wearing my Watch on the left. But sometimes I switch because my arm gets irritated. I noticed when I’m wearing the Watch on the right (my dominant hand) my steps are higher. Do you know if the steps are acurated or do they get higher because I move around more with that side?
thankyou 🙂

Some of these questions you might want to ask on the "Manage Weight" Board https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Manage-Weight/bd-p/weightloss . I haven't used them, But I do know, Fitbit let's you enter your target weight and maybe how fast you want to lose, and sets either your daily calorie deficit or calorie intake for you, and also lets you keep track of what you eat, but I don't know the details.
A for which arm, when you set up, you specified whether wearing on dominant or non-dominant arm. Steps cannot be directly detected but only inferred by movement on the arm that looks to fitibit like swinging of the arm while walking. Normally the dominant wrist does more of this type movement such as brushing teeth. When you specify fitbit on dominant wrist, fitbit tries to filter out some of these steps. I have no idea how much of a difference it actually makes. You can change it from phone app Today screen, tap battery icon at top left, then tap your tracker model, then wrist placement.
