Why Am I Spinning?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just noticed the other day that I was "spinning". For 15 minutes. What is that and why is it telling me I'm doing it?

And if it is an actual exercise, then why is in in my list of exercises to choose to automatically ignore?

What will I be doing next?  Bowling?

Hi there @artworksmetal it's great to see you in the Community! Allow me to help you with your question regarding which activities you can track automatically.

Spinning is a kind of indoor bike workout. It's possible that your wrist movement has resembled an indoor cycling activity and that's why your Versa 4 interpreted such as.

To manage the activities your device detects automatically y recommend that your read our help article How do I track my activity with my Fitbit device? below "Which activities does my Fitbit device track automatically?"

I hope this information will be useful for you !

@artworksmetal   The Versa 4 has two different features that can automatically detect certain activities.

  • SmartTrack -- this is that list of seven activities that you control in the Fitbit app.  It includes outdoor bike, not spinning.  These are the ones you can set to Ignore.
  • Exercise app Auto-Start -- when your Versa 4 was new, it came with a feature that can start the Exercise app for three activities: walk, run, and bike (outdoor).  The recent firmware update added three activities: spinning, elliptical, and rowing.

Your Fitbit recorded this because you were doing something that the accelerometer perceived as spinning.  The accelerometer sees what it sees.  Here's how to turn this feature off:

  • Short press the button and open the Exercise app
  • Select Spinning
  • Swipe up on the tiny "^" at the bottom of the screen
  • Look for Auto-start and toggle it off

Thanks you to both of you for considering my question. I was not at all aware of the 'tiny"^"'  option.

Unfortunately, I believe that it actually happened because I mis-poked and chose the wrong exercise manually. This also modified the Exercise screen so that spinning was to the left, where I always tap. Because walk is the only exercise I care to record. Apparently there is no way to edit the exercise screen, and I'm not getting any younger. So unless there's a way to do a shortcut for just walking, I'm just going to make that mistake occasionally. The only shortcut I'm aware of is long pressing the button, which  I use to access Google pay.

 Thanks again!
