All Versa vibrations stopped working

I own the special edition Versa and it was a pre-order. The firmware version is 32.32.4.19 and it no longer does any vibrations, as the subject states. The notifications and alarms still work but no vibrations with the strength setting being Normal or Strong. I have even tried the Send a Test Call Notification prompt in the Fitbit app and no vibration either.

At first when wore the Versa it would vibrate with notifications, alarms, incoming calls, running, and when using Fitbit pay, so I know it worked at one point. I can swipe down on the clock face and my Versa shows the notifications I have gotten, so that is not the issue. It is just the vibrations have completely stopped. I have not received the new update yet and was planning on waiting until I updated my Versa to see if that fixes my problem, but this has been going on for a couple of weeks and patience is running thin. I want to like the Versa. I have owned a Charge and Charge 2, and I decided to upgrade. These are the steps I have taken to try and fix the issue:

  • I shutdown my Versa and powered back on.
  • I unpaired it through my phone's Bluetooth (Android Note 4, Android version 6.0.1).
  • Removed the Versa from my Fitbit app.
  • Uninstalled Fitbit app.
  • Turned off Bluetooth and Location.
  • Factory Reset Versa.
  • Shut down and powered on phone.
  • Installed Fitbit app, logged in, and added Versa.
  • Went through the steps to update Versa while Versa charging.
  • Turned on Bluetooth and Location through the Fitbit app when prompted.
  • Turned notifications on for texts, call, email, and other apps on in setting for both Versa and my phone.
  • Turned all sound on and made sure my phone was not in Do Not Disturb.

And still, Versa does not vibrate. I know this is a new product and there are bugs and glitches. However, I feel as I have tried everything in my power to fix this issue. If anyone else has had this issue and have fixed the problem, I would like to know. I need help on what my next action(s) should be. I don't want to return it, but will if I need to.

Thank you.

I contacted customer support about the issue I'm having. They are sending me a replacement Versa. I bought the Versa from Fitbit.com. If the rest of you are still having the same problem, I suggest contacting the support team. I will respond to this post if the new Versa works or doesn't. All the best everyone.

I am having this exact same problem and have done all of the steps as well. My versa was a pre-order also. Please let me know when we find a solution. I am so upset because I sold my apple watch to purchase the versa, and now do not know when I receive a call or text because the watch isnt vibrating.

I am encountering same problem. It vibrates for alarms, step/goal notifications but not for text or phone call notifications. I have tried resetting, repairing with phone, etc with no luck!

Hey, same here - https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa/Versa-is-not-vibrating-when-I-receive-notifications/m-p/269571...

It is vibrating when I receive calls (and from test call within the Fitbit app) but not when I receive anything else like SMS, Instagram, Gmail, Facebook messenger, calendar events, N26 bank app and probably all the other apps - just notifications without vibrations (all apps are set to receive notifications in the Fitbit app). All that was working a few days ago.

But it's vibrating when I set an alarm in the Versa, and when I achieve a goal.

The Fitbit support hinted me that the problem could be that my phone is not on the compatibility list, but I do not think that is the problem - like I said before, all worked just fine a few days. I have a Xiaomi mi band 2 at home, which is working just fine with all the phones (vibrating, showing notifications, counting steps, sleep tracking ...) and it costs me 20 euros 🙂 So that compatibility list is not a good excuse.

My Versa also stopped logging my sleep. It started the same time as the vibrations stopped - the last day logged was on Friday 4th of May.

edit: Forgot to mention, I have also done all the steps written in the first post, but nothing helped.

I really want to like the Versa, it's a great watch, and I don't want to return it, but it's not looking good...

now that you mention it, mine is not recording my sleep neither.

Hey all,

I just woke up with my sleep tracking working good. I have placed the Versa on my right non tattooed arm and woke up with sleep analysis.

Then I tried the notifications while my Versa was on my right arm. And it worked?! I get all the vibrations, from SMS, google inbox, Facebook messenger, and probably all the others (have not got the time to try them all). So the tattoos are the cause of Versa not vibrating? That's... weird, and kinda unacceptable. I do not want to wear Versa on my right arm.

I have switched Versa back to the left tattooed arm, and the vibrations stopped immediately. I have also switched the dominant/non dominant option in the Fitbit app.

I would like to mention that the Versa was updated to the latest version yesterday, but I do not think that this is the reason for working vibrations since the Versa only vibrates on my right non tattooed arm.

I would have never thought tattoos would be the issue. I have a tattoo on the left wrist but it's not directly under the watch covering the heart rate monitor. I will switch the Versa to my right had to see if that does anything. Still no update for me.

Update. I have worn my Versa on my other hand for 24 hours and still no vibrations from the Versa. Even switched the setting to dominant wrist in the Fitbit app. If no update happens within the week I'll be contacting customer support.

My problems started immediately after the firmware update.  Messages etc.  recieved on watch with no vibations.  My Versa says it's firmware version 32.32.10.15

Hey, so I was testing the Versa for a few days now.

I do get all the notifications and vibrations when Versa "feels" my skin. So when I wear it on my dominant non tattooed arm, everything is fine. Even if I cover the sensors behind the Versa with my finger, I get vibrations when I receive notifications.

When I wear it on my non dominant tattooed arm, I do not get any vibrations when I receive SMS, Facebook messenger, Instagram, .... But only notifications. If my Versa is on the table, there are no vibrations for Facebook messenger, instagram, SMS or other apps, but I do get vibrations for calls.

The vibration is always working when I receive call or an alarm goes off or when I achieve daily goal no matter what arm I am using.

So Versa needs to "feel" the skin to vibrate when receiving notifications?

Support told me that this is because of my non-supported device but that's not true.

I do have a little non tattooed place on my tattooed arm and if I place the Versa sensors on the right spot, I do get all the vibrations.

Can anyone else (with working vibrations) please try if the Versa is vibrating when you receive SMS or Facebook messenger message when Versa is on the table and not on the skin. Thank you.

Unfortunately I am sleeved, both wrists covered. They suggested I wear mine to bed on my ankle. I decided to return it. I'm bummed. I wanted it to be a good fit for me. I figure if it isn't tracking my heart beat, it's just a really expensive pedometer. 😕

I just got the update Saturday night. I have worn the Versa for 24+ hours and no vibrations from the new update. I'm contacting their support team. If they can't help, then I'm returning this. I'll go back to my Charge 2 or switch to Garmin watches. The moderators have dodged this topic for a reason, I'm guessing... Not happy with the Versa.

My issues started after the firmware update as well. No text notifications at all, but calls come in and watch still vibrates, just absolutely zero text notification.

Tried everything- unpaired, uninstalled app, factory reset, etc...

I actually exchanged my Versa today, but the problem continues with the new watch. They need to fix bugs and release another firmware update.

Hello all, I hope you are doing fine.

I want to thank you all for troubleshooting this by yourselves and would like to know if you keep experience this issue? Have some of you contacted our support team, have they offer you a solution for this?

For the ones that haven't contacted support, could you please tell me which troubleshoot have you tried so far? Have you tried the restart process? If you haven't, you can restart your watched by doing the following:

  1. Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.

Hope to hear from you soon. Robot Happy
