This behavior started around Oct 21, 2025 and is directly related to the issue users are complaining about here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Aria-Scales/Aria-Scale-syncing-but-App-isn-t-updated-immediately/td-...
Subscription notifications for the body collectionType are being sent (as expected) when a user steps on the scale and completes a weighin.
But the data is no longer accessible immediately. There is now a delay (users are reporting it can be up to 24 hours). If we attempt to access the body endpoint for that subscription notification, we will get an empty response object because the data is not available yet. We can re-run the request hours later and will be able to access the data.
This defeats the purpose of Subscriptions.
Apps now need to poll the Fitbit endpoint on a periodic basis to check for newly available data points, instead of relying on subscription notifications to tell us when there is something new to access.
A moderator on the Aria forum post said the issue is being investigated but I just wanted to post it here under Web API to bring attention to it because I'm surprised that it hasn't been patched yet after several weeks.

Hi Doris, I don't see any messages. Where did you send them?
I did already have an issue created in Issue Tracker, but I don't see any messages on that issue and I don't see any new inbound messages either (but I'm not super familiar with Issue Tracker so I might be looking in the wrong place).
