Changing you email to google

Can you change your email to your Gmail account and will this satisfy "moving your account" to Google?

Just changing the email address to @gmail.com does not count as moving your account to Google.   You still need to transfer your Fitbit account to a Google account using the migration process in the mobile application.

How do you transfer your account without losing data? I recently set up the
Google account and it was like starting over. All progress, badges,
achievements etc were lost for the last 7 years.
