I was going to spend €239.99 on a fitbit blaze for my thesis, but I see everyone here complaining about not being allowed to connect diretly to fitbit devices by bluetooth. That really sucks! You have to connect to the fitbit web api? You should give developers the choice on battery life etc etc.... Im going to have to go for a different brand that I can get the data from directly.

@Eoghan You can refer to this thread about Bluetooth SDK for more information. But yes, currently you would need to use Fitbit's Web API.

There are many technical constraints in creating devices. Fitbit optimizes its products for how most people will use them. We understand that this means they may not be suitable for your specific use case. We appreciate your feedback. Perhaps we'll be able to better serve your specific need in the future.

I see the MS Band requires the MS Health app to use their SDK, but still, at least you can get the data from the band without using web requests...
ps: the blaze is a sexy piece of tech, no doubt.
