Fitbit 1.2 API and Dashboard inconsistent

I am having a problem when I pull the sleep API [ v 1.2 ]

I get a total amount of [ awake time ] LESS THAN what I see on the dashboard.

 

Further looking at the dashboard charts I noticed that it's common when there is a [ light sleep ] period 

the dashboard will GENERATE some [ awakes ] during those light sleep periods.

 

However, those GENERATED AWAKES will be present when you call the API.
