Production issue: Old sleep subscription notifications being sent

Notifications for old sleep logs are being sent to applications that have subscribed to user sleep data. Sleep logs are undergoing a data migration and this has caused notifications to be sent even though no values has changed. We expect to have a fix released by the end of the week. If your application needs a rate limit increase in the interim, please contact Fitbit Web API support privately.

Hello Fitbit team,
I am working on a dev team responsible for ingesting Fitbit data. We have subscribed to activity, sleep and weight notifications for our members adn we have integrated with Fitbit for about 3 years now. Last week (on Feb 1st and 2nd - 2016 and also starting last evening around 8PM EST and continuing even as we speak) we started getting huge amounts of body messages included in the notifications posted to our subscriber endpoints. I was able to determine that as of now we got over 1 million messages that are considered either duplicate or historic by our application. We get notifications for dates as old as April of last year. These historical notifications are flooding our system and I was wondering if there is any reason why these are all send all of a sudden. We did not experience such a high volume of historic data before, and now it seems like we had 2 days of it last week and then again today.

Also, these high volume of notifications is causing us to exceeded the rate limit hourly.

Any help/suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Roxana

We are seeing similar behavior reported previously for sleep notifications - that is very old notifications with dates going back to November 2014 are being sent.

Is this a similar issue

Hey @TJISMH, are you seeing these notifications today or did you see them last week? If you saw them last week, this should be resolved by now.

@AndrewFitbit

We saw a flurry of these around 1530 UTC today.
And to be clear the collection type of the notifications is activities NOT sleep.

@TJISMH We're not seeing this behavior systemwide. Is this for multiple users or just one user?

Looks like it is confined to a single user

@TJISMH We're not seeing anything widespread so it's probably a single user genuinely adding logs.
