Counting way too many steps!

My Zip has been counting too many steps. This morning, I 'walked' 22,500 steps from the time I got up to the time I left for work, about 1 1/2 hours. Never got that many steps in that time frame even when I take a long walk. I just bought this one about 1 week ago, so it's a little frustrating it isn't working right. Is there something I can do to fix it, or do I have to just return and replace?

Nice to see you here @Darkin! To make sure that your tracker is working correctly, please restart it. Also, keep in mind that factors such as tracker placement, and stride length can all affect the number of steps recorded. You can check this help article about how to measure and adjust your stride length

Note that if you're pushing a stroller or shopping cart. Your Fitbit Zip is designed to be worn close to the body. A shirt pocket, bra, pants pocket, belt, or waistband are all ideal places to wear your Zip.

Always use the silicone holder when clipping Zip to a bra or waistband; Zip should not be worn in close contact with the skin. For this reason don't wear Zip inside your bra.

Keep me posted! 🙂

Please can you tell me why you cannot wear the zip close to skin as I have been wearing mine inside my bra so it has no chance to get lost. Also, just had to buy a new one as my old one went through the washing machine and although still appeared to work, gave me far too many steps! Also the battery internal notches had broken off (the new one seems different now, my old one was 3 years old).
