Data accuracy ??

I need some thoughts to check if my zip is tracking data accurately . This morning I walked 1 km and my zip shows 971 steps with about 930 calories burnt. While yesterday I wore the zip when I was cycling for about 30 kms and it logged 7400 steps and 1300 calories.

I have faced this issue earlier and customer care asked me to reset the device . Any suggestions ?

Hi there @Dataaccuracy. Good to see you in the Community!

It does sound okay to me as it should be proportional. What you can do is a step accuracy test. For this, take your tracker, see how many steps you have and if you want, write it down. Then, walk about 100 steps and count them in your head. Check your tracker and see how many steps you have and the total should be of about 90-95 steps for calling that accurate.

Try that out and let me know how it goes!

971 steps for a 1 km walk is too few steps, unless you are approximately 2.4 meters tall or if it was rather less than 1 km.  Where are you wearing your fitbit zip? If you are walking, it should be on the trunk of your body for best accuracy.

Accuracy of a Zip on a bicycle is best if you are on a fixed gear bicycle. Your reported steps for a 30 km ride having you moving 4 meters per "step". Once again, where are you wearing your Zip when you ride your bicycle? If you are riding a bicycle, it should be worn below your knee. If you are wearing it on the trunk of your body, it will tend to undercount.

The Zip is generally quite accurate, if my zip is typical. I've tested it against other pedometers, and against manually counting steps while I was wearing it, and it is among the best.
