I have had my new Fitbit Zip a few months now and love it.  I was going to by another one for a relative but found its no longer available on the Fitbit Site.  Please tell me your not discontinuing it.

Sorry patti, my anger isn’t meant towards you, it’s towards poor corporate customer service. I could put it in my pocket but it’d be bigger and more of a hassle than the convenient zip size. Not to mention added cost of being forced to buy something new. Any alternative pedometer companies out there?

Best Answer

I got your anger by your user name, lol.
Actually it is not much bigger than the zip. It's like the same size as
the ONE, if you ever had that. It comes off the wrist thing and pops in a
case, like the zip. It is the cheaper of the inspires, won't work with the
HD one.
Yes, I agree. There is something that I liked and now they go and
discontinue it and change it up and it costs more. It stinks.
I don't know of anything else that just can attached to my pants or go in
my pocket. Good luck!

My Zip has stopped reporting steps for the past 2 days.  The app (android phone) reports "tracker not found," although it does allow me to log in weight and water and saves that report.  If I mess with the battery, or uninstall then reinstall the app, it will work for a day.  Is the Inspire the only one that can be removed from the bracelet?  Why can't the video or other info illustrate how that works?

Best Answer

Hi @fran1204  the Inspire is the only Fitbit being sold that can be used with an optional clip. You would take the pebble part out of the band and into the clip. Here is an article on band replacement, that shows the pebble being removed - click  See if that helps you.

Thank you.  But I can't find a picture of what the clip would look like.  I think I read somewhere that the Inspire HR will not work with the clip, is that correct?

Only the Inspire can use the clip. Since the Inspire HR monitors the heart rate, it doesn't make sense to have it clipped. Here is a picture of the clip, from the Fitbit Store.

Thanks, this has been helpful.  Still not happy about the Zip discontinued.  I could buy a new Zip online from eBay or Amazon, but I'm not confident that it would sync well, since support for it has ended.  Has anyone else on this forum tried that route?

Best Answer

Fitbit would still support the product, but I doubt you'd want to pay more than double for the Zip. $150 to $190 is what I just saw on Amazon and you could buy an Inspire, the clip, extra bands and still have money left over.

The info on the Inspire isn't really that clear, but the HR I don't even think would work in the clip.  It is very vague about using the clip.

I just got my new Inspire to replace my Zip, sadly.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app on my Android phone, and logged in with my current (Zip) account.  The dashboard only wants to look for the Zip, which of course it no longer can read anyway.  How can I make the dashboard look for the new Inspire and forget about the Zip?  Do I need to open a new account?

Hi @fran1204   you can read the directions on how to set up a replacement - click - and let us know how things go for you.

Thank you, it worked!  Charged, updated and online.  Just ordered a clip - hate the wrist band!  I appreciate your help walking me through this (traumatic) change!

Glad you're stepping @fran1204  and I know how you feel about your Zip. A friend of mine keeps a new Zip in her desk drawer in case her current one dies!

I tried a second spare zip I got from a friend that did not use it.  I had the same syncing issues. In fact on setup it would see the zip, ask for the pair code, and upon entering the code it would get an error.  I tried on multiple computers with both my zip and the borrowed one. I can understand discontinuing devices. I just wish they would allow the old devices to continue working a couple of years past the discontinue date.

Exactly. This was a boneheaded move on the part of Fitbit. I was a Fitbit convert since the moment the Zip came out. I have personally owned at least 10 myself alone and then all of a sudden,  my last remaining one stopped syncing and I lost days worth of step data. So, I said goodbye to Fitbit as a company for good. Why should I pay at least double for the Inspire just to clip a simple pedometer to my bra, when all I want is something very simple and your company took that away from your loyal customers?  I shouldn't have to pay extra for a clip, it's almost discrimination against a huge section of the female population who does clip them on bras.  I have been using another brand's pedometer and you have lost a customer for life. Good strategic move there, guys. And the worst part is that customers were asking for months if Fitbit was discontinuing the Zip, and the company was so coy and misleading about it, it's disgusting and just shows you what they think of their customers.

Oooh - would you share which one you are using now?  I am absolutely not using a Fitbit going forward on principle.

Update: I am using the Inspire.  Hated the bracelet so ordered the clip.  Just not the same.  Too many features that get in my way.  Battery needs charging every 4-5 days.  I am losing interest in keeping up with my steps, weight loss and water, which were the only things I monitored on the old Zip.  I'm 76, trying to maintain healthy lifestyle with minimal technology.  I feel Fitbit has failed people like me by discontinuing the Zip.

I don't EITHER!  It says the Inspire comes with an "optional" clip - does that mean we have to buy it?  I absolutely WON'T wear a watch type.  It won't work for me at all, AND I don't think they are accurate.

Best Answer

Is the clip included?  I hope so.

Are you going to quit supporting the ZIP on that app?  I just bought a back-up one!

I am getting the same opinion!!! I have a had a  Zip forever--the last 4 months it loses steps htat I viewed on the device, and loses miles-- I am getting more than disgusted-- if it was not a previously good tool I would thorw it out and never look back!!! sadly the customer service individual who helped me load it onto my new windows 10 in July was not  conversent int he workings of W10, but as person not real computer literate I am at a loss evefn going forward...
