Fitbit Zip reporting large amounts of steps for about a month

My fitbit zip has reported an extremely inaccurate number of steps for about a month.

Can I just delete all these steps in one fell swoop? I don't care about the legit steps. I just want all the steps for the period of about a month removed.

I want the badges and achievements associated with those steps removed also. Will getting rid of those steps do that?

Another topic suggested removing them day by day by doing this

  1. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard.
  2. At the top of the screen click Log > Activity.
  3. Find the data you want to negate by selecting a date range.
  4. In the activity menu, type in "Driving" and enter the duration and start time.
  5. Click Log Activity. Your steps, floors, and calories burned will decrease for the time period you specified.

This isn't working for me. I click on log, then go to the Activities tab, select the date range. Is "Driving" a custom activity? I've tried adding it as a custom activity, and under common activities, and neither work.

I set the times for the activity to be starting at 12:00 am and ending at 11:59 pm, with 1 calorie and 1 km (since it won't let me enter zero). Is that what I should be doing?

Please help. I just want these massive amounts of extra steps, badges, and achievements gone.

Driving is not a custom activity,  you want to start typing  "driv",  you'll notice a drop down menu appear with the word "Driving". Click on this word, your steps will disappear.

No the badges and acheivements will not be removed.
