I have a new phone and my phone bluetooth won't recognize the zip to pair.

Have you checked that your new phone is supported by fitbit at www.fitbit.com/devices ?
How are you trying to pair? All you need to do with a new phone is download the fitbit app and sign-in using your existing fitbit id and password.
If you still have your old phone make sure you delete any bluetooth connections to the fitbit as this might be blocking connection to your new phone.

@auntieemy you do not pair the Zip to your phone.
Open the app up. Log into your fitbit account and perform an add device.
There is nothing needed to be done outside of the app.
