Fitbit doesn't average steps correctly on dashboard

Just out of curiosity I decided to check my average steps and compare with what Fitbit Connect is telling me. The dashboard has it wrong. Averaging numbers is a simple process, but Fitbit was off by nearly 700 when averaging the seven-day performance.

I have the same issue - is this being addressed? Either the average or the total steps is wrong as the math does not work out (IMO).....

Hey there, @JohnV! Thanks for the screenshot! 😉 So the "7 day average" you see there refers to an average of the last 7 days, before today.  

 

Now, the "7 day total", is simply the sum of the past 6 days and today. You can take a look at this post for more clarification.

Well thanks for the explanation Solange - it does help to clarify what I am looking at. I read the link you included as well and stil wonder why this hasn't been addressed by the website developers. I would think it would be quite simple to explain what we are looking at by making the following easy changes:

 

"7-day average" to "7-full day average" (note the addition of the word "full") and,

"7-day total" to "7-day total (including today)" .... just saying....
