Fitbit zip showing wrong number of steps

I've been asleep for about 9 house and apparently in those 9 hours of sleep I walked 255 steps. This isn't the only problem I've had with my zip. My batter goes from full to medium to dead to full and repeat. I just put a new battery in last week. What is going on with my zip?!

It's nice to see you around the Community @Billsprague, hope you're doing great! Smiley Very Happy Are you saying that it isn't paired? If so, I'd recommend doing these steps to relink your Zip to your account:

    1. On the Fitbit app for iOS dashboard, tap the Account tab.
    2. Tap Set Up a Device.
    3. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue.

Afterwards, you should be able to see your Zip again linked to your Dashboard. Have a nice day!

My zip is acting up and fluctuating between saying a full battery and low/empty. I have changed batteries three times in one week but think that the batteries may be old (I had gotten several at one time). I'll get a new battery tomorrow and hopefully that will fix it. When the battery drops to low, it does not record steps. How can I manually add those steps back on?

Great news @Billsprague, I'm glad to hear you're back! Smiley Very Happy

Well my friend @Jean733, sometimes the side spring may be bent as a result of improper battery insertion or pressure being applied to the back housing. Verify that there is proper contact between the battery and the battery contacts inside your Zip tracker. You can do this by opening the battery door of your Zip, removing your battery, and ensuring that the silver battery tab located in the lower right half of your tracker is flush with the white box outline in the tracker housing. The process can be followed here.

Is everything fine on how to manually add your steps? See here the process:

  1. On the Fitbit app dashboard tap the Exercise tile to open your exercise history. This is the tile that says "Track exercise" if you haven't worked out today.
  2. Tap the stopwatch icon in the top right corner.
  3. Tap Log.
  4. Tap a recent activity or search for an exercise type.
  5. Adjust the activity details and tap Add.

If your iOS mobile device supports 3D Touch, you can also log an activity from the home screen with the Quick Action menu accessed by 3D Touch.

Let me know if this worked! Smiley Very Happy
