How to record Chair marching with Fitbit Zip

I have mobility issues and do a LOT of chair marching, very energetic marching while sitting in an upright chair or on a city bus. Where can I wear my Fitbit Zip in order to track activity accurately? I have marched today for an hour straight, and my sync only shows 17 active minutes from hours ago. I wore my Zip on my shoe, where I wore my previous step tracker( discontinued model from another company), but moved it to my sock to see if that helps. I walk with a cane, so I wear the tracker on my left shoe, since I use the cane with my right. Any suggestions for best tracking? Thank you!

I have found that putting my Fitbit zip in my watch pocket(close to hip bone) works the best and most accurate for me. I have tried socks, shoes and on belt but the watch pocket seems to be the ticket for me. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your suggestion.  Few of my clothes have pockets, none have a watch pocket, and I don't see how a waist or hip area position for the tracker would track large, rhythmic marching steps my lower legs are taking. I can give it a try, but am using the tracker on my thick athletic sock for now and will see how the numbers match up with numbers archived from my old tracker.
