Battery on Zip lasting less than a month. Just changed battery and lost nearly 5 miles of steps for today. It started tracking steps from 0 with the new battery. Is there any way to retrieve the step count for today?
Best AnswerI had the same problem yesterday, I replaced the battery yesterday morning and everything was fine up until 10 pm, the time on the Zip said 5:35 pm. so I changed the battery again and it gave me my steps, I get up at 2 am and the time is still on 11 pm, so I changed the battery again this morning and I had to retrace my steps. this is getting to be a pain.

Welcome to the Forums @CEMC and @justjannie! Notice that data could be lost if your tracker is not synced before replacing the battery. If this was the case you can manually log the missing steps by following the steps described in this post.
However, keep in mind that manually logged activities do not count toward challenges; only steps recorded by your tracker or MobileTrack are counted toward challenges. Also, if you're in a different time zone than the challenge owner, you may notice that your challenge leaderboard stats do not always match your dashboard stats.
Keep me posted!
P.S. @CEMC Please check out this post by @vomitofthemind to see if this helps you with your Zip's battery.

Thanks for the update @CEMC and @justjannie! @CEMC If you are having an issue with your battery, I would recommend checking the metal spring inside the Zip's battery compartment. Sometimes your tracker will have battery issues when this is bent. Here is a picture of how it should look like:
@justjannie To avoid losing steps when you change your battery, please make sure to sync before replacing it. And, if after replacing the battery some steps are missing try manually logging it as suggested above.
Catch you later! 🙂
Best AnswerThe link doesn't let us go to the page to see how to log steps manually. It says we don't have permission. Is there another location to give us the information on how to log steps manually?

Best AnswerI think there is a place on your FITBIT dashboard to manually put in your steps, hope this helps
Best Answergo to your dashboard, and towards the left side bottom there is a box that says "All Day Activity", towards the bottom of that box move your mouse down and it will say MORE- click on that and you should be able to manually put in your minutes and/or exercise
