Recorded steps incorrectly

I have had my Zip for about 18 months, and it's been great, up until recently.  Last week, it reset itself in the middle of the day.  At 2:00pm, I had 18 steps, when I know I had walked 1.5 miles by that time.

Today, it says I've walked .35 miles (probably correct, just steps in the office so far) and have logged 6000 steps.  Huh?

Also, I just replaced my battery about one month ago, and got an e-mail today telling me it's low.

I love this little guy, and it suits my needs perfectly.   Surely, after 18 months, I shouldn't have to replace it already?

Thank you.
