Why continue the Zip when the battery needs replacing every week.

I used to like the Zip, but now without any recourse to turn off auto synching, I have to buy a $4.00 battery every week. That's $16 a month, and $192 a year.  It's dumb.  The default for the Zip should be no auto sync.  I'm not going to turn bluetooth off and on all day on my iPhone and have to reconnect all of my BT devices because I can't turn auto sync off on my Zip. That'd be stupid.

Hi @briankruger  the Zip was discontinued a few years ago. I have a friend who only changes batteries every three or four months. She might get a low battery warning, but she just takes the battery out and wipes it on a towel and puts it right back in. It's working well for her, despite all day syncing. If you don't want all day sync, then log out of your account. It's that easy.

@briankruger  I know that some people swear by a certain brand battery. My friend gets energizer brand from Amazon and says they work for her. Some people use Duracel and are happy. Try logging in and out of your app to see if it helps. Let us know. Zip owners are fiercely loyal. My friend won't even consider another style!

Zip was my first adventure with Fitbit before I got my Charge 2. I am soon hopefully going to move up to a Versa 2 as my current fitbit is getting a little worn out.

@briankruger may I suggest first making sure your battery connections are proper and second stop purchasing overpriced batteries, that's ridiculous, you can purchase two at the dollar tree for ... a dollar, or from Amazon or eBay for PENNIES. I purchased 20 of the Energizer brand for ~$5 and they'll last me for years. $4? 😲

The easiest option would be for Fitbit to make a Zip like the other Trackers out there and have it plug in to a charger instead of making it have a replaceable battery. The Zip was a perfect little device for its time. I don't use my zip anymore but it lasted me quite a while.

@Atomic77 easiest for who? Presently, all current Fitbits have rechargeable batteries.

Having a Zip with a rechargeable battery would make thing easier for those who like the zip  to keep using it with out having to change batteries so often.

@Atomic77 retrofitting the Zip to support a rechargeable Lipo would be somewhere between challenging and impossible, especially considering the form factor and no chance of getting the nice long life we enjoy with the CR2025's if you did manage to squeeze a mini battery in there. I like that the Zip is my only Fitbit that doesn't require a proprietary charging cable. Batteries are cheap and last incredibly long. I just bought a new Zip this week, it's smiling at me now 🙂 LOL

Well I guess you have a point @Williger. But I suppose since battery companies make rechargeable batteries It would be cool if they could make the round batteries that fit in the ZIP rechargeable.

@Atomic77 I'm not saying it's impossible, it's just a huge amount of effort for nothing really resulted. The batteries are primarily lithium and aren't able to be recharged, but there's a version of the CR2032 (slightly larger than the CR2025 in Zips) that comes in rechargeable models and it'd be probably easy to do this if it's really your mission, though you'd have to use a Dremel or something to accommodate the extra .7mm. If you take on this project, please do share your results! I like the disposable batteries, I buy a year's supply for a dollar. Didn't you mention using a Charge 2 and moving soon to a Versa? What is it that you're missing in the Zip?

@Williger I’m not missing anything with the zip. I have a Versa 2 now. I had the charge 2 and I used to have a zip. I was making a suggestion on people having problems with the battery dying so fast.
