Sometime during the night my time changes after I sync my Zip. The time is corrected after I sync, so what would cause it to change when I am away from my computer?

Welcome to the Forums @pmg63! In this case, I would recommend checking the metal spring inside the Zip's battery compartment. Sometimes your tracker will have issues when this is bent. Here is a picture of how it should look like:
