First off, love the product after having it only a week.
However, there is the rub. I literally got this product a week ago brand new... and it is already reading that my battery is low. According to the website, the current firmware, 86, states that the battery should last around 6 months, and that is the firmware my fitbit zip is currently running. Is it a glitch and I shouldn't worry about it, or is this something I should be concerned about? Started yesterday.

I tested the battery seperately and it is still full charge, so I am assuming it is a glitch on the zip end. Not too much of an issue, so for the time being, I will keep an eye on it seperately. Thanks though.

I had the same problem after only two days from new. After reading around the forums I found a thin disk of paper between the back of the battery and the little battery door solved my problem. The orignal battery went from full to telling me it needs relacing in the first two days. After only adding the thin paper the battery has returned to full and is working great.
I dont know if I have affected my warranty by doing this, but it worked.
Edited to add, Welcome to the forums Zxzyzx8 🙂

I have been through 4 fitbits! So are you saying not to take the paper off the battery in the back or putting other paper on? Would love to know the trick. The last 3 fitbits - batteries go out in 2-3 days and then can not get them to work at all. Any help is appreciated!

Hi @uarehome sorry for the delay in reply. In my fitbut zip I just cut out a little disk of 80g paper that fitted neatly inside the back of the zip .. between the back cover and the back of the battery. it has tightened up my connections with the zip and battery and so far all is working really well. No low battery signs or lost steps. Hope this helps, and do let me know how you get on.

Its the thin photocopy paper .. just take the battery and draw around it .. then cut out slightley smaller. Then put the battery in the fit bit, then the little bit of paper you just cut out, then put the cover of the fit bit back on ... it worked for me .. I have just had to change the battery now .. and that was after 4 months, its very cold where I am, so the batters wont last as long. Hope this helps

Thank you for your participation in the forums @immortalis and @adeliasweeny!
I must say @immortalis, that's a really creative workaround to get your Zip Battery nice and cozy inside of the tracker.
@adeliasweeny How did it go? Were you able to try @immortalis's tip? If the problem persists, please know that our Customer Support team will be glad to help.
Let me know if you have any questions, good luck!

it works a treat .. I think some batteries are being made ever so slightley thiner than they shouid be. So the paper insert keeps the battery happy in its compartment ...

Yes...somebody told me to try that, but we shouldn't have to. I call the company. It turns out that the product seems to be defective. They were able to bring up my account and detect the battery drainage each time I synced steps and confirmed something was wrong. My new one is on it's way.

Both my husband & I have had challenges lately. We've both been through a couple of batteries. So frustrating as I need the motivation to move. I'm going to try the paper trick.
