Nice to see you around @DebraMacc, welcome!

Thanks for reaching out. Why don't you try to restart your Zip:

  1. Open the battery door using the battery door tool and remove the battery.
  2. Wait 10 seconds.
  3. Place the battery back into the tracker with the "+" side facing up, and close the door.

Your Fitbit Zip is now restarted. You will see your tracker's version number, followed by a series of Fitbit Smilies. When you tap your tracker, it should work normally. If your tracker still doesn't work after a restart, please let me know.

See you around.

Hi guys, my fitbit zip doing the same. I have tried what you have suggested and several batteries without success. Have left it without a battery for a few days and still nothing, completely blank screen. What can I do? Thanks.

Tried what you said. Did not change anything. Still no display on zip. What now?  Does it need a new battery?

My fitbit zip quite yesterday as well.  I have tried the recommended restart, but still get nothing but a blank screen.  Is it beyond hope?

Best Answer
I put in a new battery, the thinner version and it started right up. I haven't had any problems since.

Thanks.  I replaced the battery that was in there.  It wasn't indicating that it needed replacing, but a different battery did the trick.

How you doing my friend @Patart? Welcome! Smiley Happy

Thanks for trying those steps. About the battery issues with your Zip, let's confirm some basic things. If you're using a new battery. Make sure that the little metal piece that makes contact with the battery is not bend and clean the battery and the place where you put it using a cotton swab before insert it again. Make sure that the little metal piece that makes contact with the battery is not bend or rusty too.

Mine is doing the same. It happened suddenly about a month ago. It will turn off, won't log steps, and the time is completely off. It has a brand new battery, and the Zip is not very old.

Thanks, I had already looked on Amazon to buy another. Changed the battery although battery level “full’. Now it’s working. I’m so glad b/c they don’t sell zips anymore.
