Zip won’t sync to the app

My zip won’t sync to the app. I have taken the battery out and put it back in, completely replaced the battery, restarted the Fitbit app several times including logging out and back in.
Any other suggestions?

I am having the exact same problem.  Have you figured it out yet?

I finally got it to synchronize.  Took battery out, waited 10 seconds, put back in.  Turned off WiFi on phone and back on. Woke the zip, and it then synched with the app.  I also deleted and downloaded the app again ahead of all this.  Something in the sequence worked!

Thank you! Did exactly what you said worked for you and Bam! Sync’ed!

Got mine to sync yesterday, but not sure how I did it. Now, can’t get it to sync again. The Zip is counting steps but the app isn’t keeping up. I’m beginning to think it’s Fitbit’s way to get us all to update to something newer. I don’t want a watch. I like the Zip’s size.

I am right there with you! I don't need a fancy thing when the zip accomplishes it all for me. I logged out this morning as it wasn't syncing again this morning and now I can't even log in! Very frustrating 😢

It looks like Fitbit had issues with the app yesterday and has fixed the problem.  It affected all types of devices, so luckily the Zip is still syncing!

Thanks for the tip.  It worked.  I also had rebooted my iPhone, deleted and reinstalled the app to no avail.  Finally did what you suggested and removed the battery for 10 seconds.  Reinstalled the battery and I was able to sync (is this like rebooting the fitbit device?).  Thank you again for posting your solution.

Same here. I did everything possible to troubleshoot this issue. Bluetooth off/on, restart phone, wifi off/on, manual sync in app, log in from computer, and finally deleted app and reinstalled. Nothing worked, until I read the suggestions here in the forum for removing the Zip battery and reinstalling. That's it. Works now. Fingers are crossed that it will continue working.

Thanks to all who replied! What finally worked was uninstalling the app and reinstalling. Working for now. I agree with others—I am sad they are no longer making the zip. I hate wearing something on my wrist and prefer to clip my tracker to my bra under my clothes. Hope this one lasts awhile!

cheers

The only thing that worked was uninstalling the Fitbit app, reinstalling it and resyncing the zip. Good luck

Thank you!  I don't know how this worked as I have tried everything already - but it did!

I am so happy to have my zip syncing again.  I also do not want to buy a wrist tracker - I love my zip!

I was just about to write that I was experiencing this issue as well, with my zip not syncing to the app. It was not syncing for the 5th day in a row as of today, and I was just about to ask someone here "wouldn't removing the battery cause all the unsynced data (steps, etc) to be lost?".....when low and behold, I went to try syncing it for the umpteenth time, and it worked. Don't know what caused the change all of a sudden. I even tried an hour or so earlier and it didn't work. Also, the app, rather than being the fitbit logo, was this blank white grid (when it wasn't syncing), but when I was able to sync it, it went back to being the fitbit logo. Maybe that meant that they had gotten it cleaned up and working again?

So apparently waiting it out, even for a few days, is also a solution? When it wouldn't sync, I didn't try removing the battery, but I did restart the phone, log out/back in to the app, delete and reload the app, and none of those worked. I think these syncing problems have happened before and resolve on their own, like it did this time.

Fitbit support told me all the usual stuff then sent me an email to offer me a discount in a new device! Told them it only stopped syncing once I downloaded their update. Convenient eh? I’ll try some of the tips on here

did everything you suggested. still not working, haven't been able to sync for 5 days and it erased past data. any ideas?

Well, just after I decided to chuck zip and use one...it synced. I'm going to use zip/one, I think.

Thank you for posting your solution. I have been fighting with my Zip since the App update on 26th February.  It just wasn’t syncing. Tried everything except removing the battery to reboot it.  Read your post and removing the battery for 10 seconds worked!  Even better, I didn’t lose any of the days’ step counts.

I agree. The problem is getting worse. It will sync for a few days then stop. I have not found a tried and true way that fixes it everytime. Alway

Anytime my Fitbits don't sync I do something very simple that fixes it every time, I turn off Bluetooth on my phone. I've shared this tip with others and it's helped them too. Something "breaks" within the Fitbit app in how it communicates over Bluetooth however if you allow Fitbit to turn on Bluetooth after it's turned off, it magically gets things working again! 🙂
