Your zip will count your steps whenever you wear it, even if you don't manually log anything.

hasnt been that long i joined, two weeks i think, and i have a lot of badges, what does the marathon badge mean?

The Marathon badge means that you have stepped a total of 26 miles.

 

If you go to https://www.fitbit.com/badges/all you can see all your badges and what they mean. If you hover your mouse over them you get more information pop up.
