zip erratic

My zip is acting weird. I replace the battery a week ago. Last Friday it starting resetting itself to zero, several times. So lost data that day. time was about an hour off. Saturday was low step day, it seemed ok. Sunday was a high step day, about 11,700 steps, but syncing this morning shows nothing, and reset by fitbit back to zero. So the online logging shows me as about half steps for Friday, zero steps for  Saturday, and Sunday and so far today. But calorie counts, active time, and such things show amounts, probably incorrect, but something. So I was 30 minutes active with zero steps.

Thank you for joining the Fitbit Community @samueln! While reading your post I was able to think of one thing that might be causing this issue. Can you please check if the metal pin inside the battery compartment of your Zip is not twisted or bent? The reason I ask you to verify this is because there have been other users experiencing the same and it all came down to a bad connection between the battery and the metal pin. Here is an example of how it should look like:

If everything appears to be fine and you are still experiencing the same issue, feel free to contact customer support so they can give you a hand and get you back on track.

Let me know how this goes. Robot Happy

Thanks. I did check that and carefully moved it out and up a little to make sure it was keeping good contact. Thus far all seems ok. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Your diagram shows circled the main springy contact. But there is a secondary one on the side, to the left of your circled part. That is the one I opened just  a little. Both, I believe, are necessary for good contact.

Thanks again for getting back to me. This has been really helpful. I really like this fitbit Zip. I am not an active person anymore, and this is a good way to remind me to be up and moving more. I usually try to get 5miles/10,000 steps five days a week. And the fitbit gives me a quick, fairly reliable way to check on it throughout the day. Keeps the ole heart a tickin', I hope.

Thanks again.

I appreciate your reply @samueln! I'm very happy to hear that this helped you out. Thank you for the clarification on the second pin, I'll take this into consideration when recommending this troubleshoot to other users.

I'm very pleased to hear that you enjoy using the Zip. I understand how you feel, I used to own a Zip (Magenta) and I loved that buddy very much until I lost it Robot Sad (my fault). This is a great device and I'm glad that it has helped you that much!

Keep up the good work my friend. If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to contact me back.
