I got the Fitbit zip as a gift a couple years ago. Stopped using it for a year. I just replaced the battery and started using it again today. when i installed the app, it synced fine. but i have to update the software and it won't sync again. i've been trying to sync it again to update for an hour with no success. I took out the battery and inserted it again as well. No change. Any ideas?

@ZainabAbbas welcome to the Community! When you stopped using the Zip did you leave the batteries in it? Some devices can have troubles if the batteries are left inside after being depleted. When you put in the new battery did the device start working again? Have you tried the help article @SunsetRunner recommended above? Otherwise you can also follow @SunsetRunner's advice depending if you use Android or iOS.

Hi, thankyou for the help article, my zip is syncing again, but as soon as i try to update it, it says that your device is not in range. My bluetooth is on, as is location. the battery is new. I don't know what else to try.
I have also tries restarting the zip by taking out the battery and putting it back after a minute or so. the zip itself works fine, but i cannot update it as the app keeps reminding me to do.
