Add an option to make notes in the Fitbit app

I wish there was a place to make notes for the day about activity. So you can note things like being ill or stuck in a long meeting, or at an amusement park so when you look back at those days that might be out of the ordinary you can see why.

Hi @Jill-0. Interesting idea. If you check here, you will see that it has been suggested but Fitbit has no immediate plans to implement it. They are leaving it open for votes, though, so add yours. I’m afraid for now, you would have to keep a journal, either manually or use it one of the iOS apps such as Good Notes or Sheets. I used to work with spreadsheets before I retired so I keep a journal in Sheets.

Love this idea. A couple of days ago I went camping. On one day, I did my personal best for the year, probably logging over 40,000 steps over rugged terrain. However, my Fitbit’s battery was not up to the challenge and died after just over 24 hours since being charged. Thus Fitbit shows this day as the worst in the year. Be nice to record this in the app so I would know why numbers were so low. Recording elsewhere (journal, another app, etc.) is lame, since  I don’t want to spend excessive time recording, but do want all info handy in one place.

Same, I would love a notes section. I’m currently tracking my heartbeat and sleep and I would love to write notes to remind me what I was doing on each day etc so I can see what works to lower my heart rate and improve the quality of my sleep.

Same. There are so many variables that can change a person's sleep pattern and oxygen variations like medication, allergies, etc.

I too was looking for the personal notes section and to my dismay discovered there is none!  Most of us, if not all, desire to have our info in one place. The need to have separate journals is not convenient at all. I vote for Fitbit to add a section for our personal notes.  Sept 5, 2022

Hi everyone, and welcome to our new members.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about the Fitbit app. I understand how helpful it'd be to add your personal notes and I'm sorry this isn't possible at the moment. I went ahead to check our Feature Suggestions board and I found this similar idea already posted by another member. While it's not currently planned, our team left voting open to keep tracking this request over time. So please make sure to add your vote to that existing idea and watch that space for status updates.

Adding a personal notes section would be most helpful.

Welcome on board, @peeban.

Thanks for joining this thread.  I understand where you're coming from about not being able to add notes to the Fitbit app, and appreciate your feedback. We're constantly working to improve our services, and for this reason I'd encourage you to vote for this idea shared in the Feature Suggestions board. That way, our developers can keep tracking this request over time.

The voting for this feature has been closed by Fitbit with a determination of won't be implemented.  Dumb.  There are so many ppl that would like to make a short note on each day.  Competitors allow this.  I will check them out now.  I recommend all Fitbit users that want this feature check out competitors also.

I totally agree. It's such a simple option. But upon looking back years ago, the response to this has been "welcome aboard" and "vote for this" through a thumbs up or whatever. As far as actual action? Nada. It seems that these forums are mainly for blowing off steam. No one is really listening or taking action. Pity.

People have been asking for a notes feature from Fitbit for years. They're not going to do it. Highly suggest getting the Oura ring instead. You can add tags and track trends for different behaviors or medications that impact sleep in Oura. Fitbit sleep tracker is useless without being able to add notes or tags as far as seeing any meaningful sleep trends.  It was the biggest reason I'm leaving Fitbit device altogether.

Hi there, @enicole1.

I understand how useful it'd be to have a notes section on the Fitbit app, and I appreciate the time taken in sharing your feedback. Fitbit strives to improve our services and it's the input we receive from our members our motivation to make that happen. Please know you're always welcome back to the Fitbit family.

Hi LizzyFitbit, I appreciate your response to enicole1.  We're past the fourth year this request has been made in this thread alone. There have been similar ones made as long ago as 2013. I would say there is actually no motivation to make a note section happen. In older, closed threads, marked "solved," there are clumsy suggestions to get another app to record notes. A more honest response after 10 years of waffling might be "sorry, not happening."

This manipulation of requests is, in the end, deceptive. Sincere efforts on Fitit's part might involve reports on concrete progress on this aspect, or timelines-- anything to suggest that feedback was really being listened to. On the fifth anniversary of this particular thread (January, 2024) let's check back to see if any of the cheery chat about input being listened to is anything more than hot air. Until then, I wish everyone a happy, healthy 2023.

Your response is less than honest. From reading other comments regarding an update to include a ‘notes section’ on Fitbit this request has been made by others for several years.
It appears Fitbit has no intention of improving the usefulness of your app to include notes. Rather…providing a response as to ‘why’ Fitbit thinks it not valuable to them to update app for its users would be an honest response.
