Alta not connecting with anything.

I have a brand new Alta 🙂 I bought it to replace my flex which gave up the ghost.  However the Alta has given up before it has got going.  It will not connect to either my MacBook or my iPhone 5SE.  I have reinstalled the Fitbit Connect on my laptop after I got past the stage of entering the 4-didit number only to be told an unknown error had occurred.  Since then it has simply refused to acknowledge the Alta even exists!

As for the iPhone, I have turned it off, uninstalled the app, turned off Bluetooth then turned it back on again - but no, it will not accept the existence of my Alta. I tried BLE Scanner but that only succeeded in telling me my husbands Air was on the sofa opposite me! I have restarted the Alta itself and am now at the point after 2.5 hours of being very tempted to simply throw it out in the driveway and run it over several times.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated - hopefully before Altacide is committed 🙂

Your husband's Air may be the problem, @Sitamoia. Take your iPhone and the Alta into a room away from other Bluetooth devices.

 - On your iPhone, turn Bluetooth off. Wait several seconds then turn it back on again.

- Now try setting up the Alta again using the Fitbit app on your iPhone.

Please let us know how this works out.

Hi, Thank you for your reply.  I had turned off my Bluetooth as well as the Bluetooth on my husband's Air. I took going too school (where I work) and being out on the field on duty for it to finally connect!  It seems a ridiculous way to have to get what is supposedly a simple connection to work but it is finally up and going.  Hopefully it won't decide to throw a hissy fit once it is around other Bluetooth devices again!

I don't know why it is so hard to get it to connect or set up - dit doesn't seem to be an unusual experience either.  My Flex was much easier.  Still I can now get moving and keep track of how many (or how few 😞 ) steps I am doing.
