App Notifications not working after firmware update on Charge 3.

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Yesterday I updated my Fitbit Charge 3 to the new firmware update 1.60.39.  I found the new watch faces (hurrah more heart rate options).  I didn't get my PM medication reminder on my Fitbit.  I confirmed that both my Fitbit App is up to date, and that the app was still setup properly to App Notifications - Reminders.  I have an iPhone 5SE which is current.  I restarted the iphone and the fitbit.  I didn't not get my morning medication reminder.  I double checked that bluetooth is enabled on the phone and I confirmed the fitbit app was open (but it was not in focus).  I created a new reminder to test.  I did not receive that reminder.  The only App Notifications I use are Reminders.  The reminders are fully functional on my iPhone.  At this point, I can only conclude that something got broke with App Notifications - Reminders.

Hello @Dianne-A have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. At this moment, as you have recently updated the firmware on your Charge 3, I would like to suggest you to restart your Charge 3 and your phone. If you have done this already and are still not getting App Notifications, I woud like to suggest you the following:

  1. Force-quit the Fitbit app, then open it again and sync your tracker.
  2. Restart the Bluetooth on your phone once again.
  3. Reset your Charge 3 once again.
  4. Refresh Notifications:
    • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon
    • Tap Notifications.
    • Turn off all notifications
    • Restart your phone.
    • Open the Fitbit app and turn notifications back on.
  5. Set up Notifications again:
    • Tell your phone to "forget" your device, removing the connection between the phone and the Fitbit device.
      1. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and find your Fitbit device in the list.
      2. Find an option to forget the device.
    • Open the Fitbit app and set up notifications again.

Give these steps a try and let us know the outcome!

Thank you.

I followed your instructions, those are quite convoluted.  They worked ....  I received my reminder notifications for about 12 hours ....  then reminder notifications quit working on the fitbit device.  I'm sure you can appreciate that these convoluted steps are not an everyday workaround for something that worked without any errors at all prior to this firmware update.

By the way, I don't have an "account" icon on my iOS app.  I don't yet have the new app that is rolling out in waves.  My app is version 2.92 (826).

I have restored my Application : Reminders.  Here are the steps I followed

1.  Tap the device icon in the upper left corner

  • tap Notifications
  • tap App Notifications
  • disable Reminders

2.  Force close the fitbit app

3.  Restart the iPhone

4.  Open fitbit app and sync

After step 4, all of the reminders that were not sent to the fitbit device are now sent all at once.  Note that App Notifications : Reminders is at this point disabled.

This is an interesting factoid, but not a work around!  It was at this point in your original instructions that the first round of missing reminders were all received by the device, so apparently the application notifications fail at random point.

First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in the response. I appreciate you have come back and let us know you have been able to get app Notifications from "Reminders". Note that if you are currently using the new dashboard design, the account button will be on the top right and will be represented by your picture.

Thanks again for coming back and let us know the steps you took in order to resolve this issue on your side, I'm sure they will be very helpful to other members of the Community facing the same situation. If there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Thank you for the response.

I just want to point out, this issue with the Fitbit device not receiving notifications is not resolved.  The steps will only temporarily restore functionality.  App Notifications : Reminders is still quite broken with the new firmware update.

@Dianne-A  I had an issue where I wasn't getting any notifications either, but another person in this thread said to check that the Do Not Disturb isn't set to on. I've never turned my dnd on but sure enough after the update it was on. As soon as I turned the dnd to off, my notifications started coming through like expected!

In case you are like me and don't immediately know where to find that setting, on your watch:

swipe left till you see "settings",

scroll up until you see "Do Not Disturb" and select it,

you can turn it on and off from there.

Hope this helps!
