Fitbit Update 5/2/2018Hi Everyone - I'd like to suggest two possible workarounds for those experiencing this app crash:

1. Try turning off Bluetooth before opening the app.

2. Try turning on Airplane mode and then open the app.

If either work, please let me know. Thanks again for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

Marco, still the same problems for me today (Weds 25th). Just been into Fitbit app. Still crashes, freezes and kicks me out of the app and also makes my iPad crash so I have to restart it. Thanks Annette

Hello @KDicas, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the family! Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have brought this issue related to the app and notifications to my attention. At this moment, I would like to ask you to restart your phone if you haven't done it yet, then check if the app freezes again. If it does, let me know in which screen this situation occurs.

Now, with text notifications, I would like to suggest you to reset Notifications from the Fitbit app following these steps:

- Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and tap on tracker. Then tap on Forget this Device.

- Force-close the Fitbit app by double tapping the home button on your phone and swiping up the app.

- Open the app again and tap on Account > Your Tracker > Notifications. You will receive the following Pop-up:

undefined

- Then, once you tap on Set Up, the app will begin setting up your tracker with the Bluetooth on your phone, which will prompt the next pop-up:

undefined

- Tap Pair

- Once you get back to the tracker options, tap on Notifications an enable the ones you'd like to receive.

Additionally, go to your phone Settings > Notifications > Fitbit and Settings > Notifications > Messages and check that the following is enabled:

  • Allow Notifications
  • Show on Lock Screen
  • Show in History.
  • Alert Setting set to Banners.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Hi Kate,

Thanks for your email re the update. Just FYI I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app and that does not work. The app is not downloading any data, crashes, freezes on the home page when trying to download data and makes my iPad crash at times and I have to restart my iPad. I look forward to hearing from you with regards to an update.

Many thanks

Hi @Nettie27 and @PhoenixEgg. A critical part of deleting and reinstalling the app is Bluetooth and the order in which you go thru the process. Please try this:

  1. Remove your device from the app.
  2. Delete the Fitbit app.
  3. Go to your iPad settings —> Bluetooth and Forget the device.
  4. Then just to make sure that everything is cleared, power down the iPad, wait a few minutes, then power it back up.
  5. Then reinstall the app and add your device.

This will take you thru the steps to set up Bluetooth again. Please let us know if this helped.

So after going through the steps you initially suggested I found I was unable to find my charge 2 when trying to set back up.

I reset my fitbit (held button whilst plugged in to charge) and it successfully found the device however would not connect to Fitbit once the code was input. This just went on for a while then crashed the app.

Ive tried this a few times and had the same result.

Any other suggestions?

I’m sorry this did not work, @PhoenixEgg. At this point, I would suggest you contact Support. Let them know the trouble shooting you have done with the help of this forum.

Hi, my fitbit app has been crashing/freezing every time i try to use it since the new app update. I have iOS 11.3. Most of the time, i can’t even get the app to sync - which is incredibly frustrating, since I use my fitbit for my alarm clock and can’t update the times on it. I’ve tried deleting the app and redownloading, along with restarting my phone. No luck. Can you suggest some way to fix this issue? Thanks.

It crashes as I'm attempting to sync. The sync seems really slow and then everything just freezes (links to settings or community or challenges don't work) and then it crashes.

Hi Dmaraduey,

I was having a lot of problems and so after advice from the Fitbit community I went to help.fit.com and emailed support with my query. The Fitbit community can only advise. If enough people email Fitbit and tell them about the problems they are experiencing they will have to do another update to correct.

Thanks

App crashing on iPhone 6s, iOS 11.3.1

Screen freezes while syncing and can’t do anything with it, had to click the support button really quick (before it crashed) just to get onto this page!

I’ve tried...

Uninstalling and reinstalling,

Uninstalling, full reboot of my phone and reinstalling,

Updating my phone (to iOS 11.3.1) and again following the above steps

I have lost all data for the app,  it is still crashing and won’t upload my data.

Hi GoneWondering,

The best thing to do is contact help.fit.com as the Fitbit community can only advise.  If enough people complain Fitbit will have to do an update.

Thanks

Place your Fitbit in your charger, make sure the fb is fully charged & plugged in. Next you’ll want to press the button on the side , continuously, until a four digit number appears. This number you will enter into phone and will pair up again with the app on your phone. Once app is paired on your phone with the fb follow instructions. This should work , this method does work with my charge 2 .
