Since last week I noticed that the app is changing my daily steps. Everyday I walk at least 10k steps and I sync with the app generally at the end of the day when I go to bed. I also participate weekly in a Work Week Hustle with colleagues from The Netherlands and India. Last week I noticed that when I sync the following happens:
- the steps on my Charge 2 watch are read by the app, say 11k.
- the App shows the daily steps of 11k
- the Work Week Hustle takes these 11k and adds it to the workweek score
- then the App reduces the number of steps with 20% or so, say in this case 9k.
- the App sends this 9k back to the watch which now shows 9k.
When looking at the details of the daily step counter in the App it looks like 15-min counter is overwritten or modified (i.e., reduced). It is interesting that I presumably met the daily 10k as the “Daily Streak” notice still counts up. I may have something to do with the Daily Savings time that changed last weekend in NL. Anyway, as you can imagine I’m not happy that my steps are reduced with some 20% in the App.
Can you please have a look what goes wrong in the App. I have some screenshots of the App that may help to explain the situation, more than happy to help out with more info, let me know. Thanks!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @HappyHarry65.
Thanks for the details shared in your post. I understand how you are feeling about this situation and appreciate your efforts to provide screenshots. I would like to confirm if you manually log any exercises or have any third party apps connected to your Fitbit account? I will be glad to investigate further.
You can find information on how your device calculate your daily activity in How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?
I'll be around.

Hi LiliyaFitbit, Thanks for your reply. Your answer indeed provided me new insights to get the root cause. On Mar-27 I downloaded the Strava app as I’m participating in a company event. For that event I use my Garmin Forerunner 245 watch to register my run. On the days I ran with my Garmin watch, I read the data after the run in the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone. The data in this app is synced with Strava, but also my Fitbit device/data/app is apparently available to Strava. So my hypothesis is that on the days the Strava app collects step/run data from my Garmin watch, it uses this data to correct the info in the Fitbit app and watch. The way this correction is done is not right causing the Fitbit step data to be decreased (since I wear my Fitbit the entire day and the Garmin only for the run). I have confirmed this hypothesis by disconnecting the Fitbit from the Strava app and currently the Fitbit step counter is no longer corrected. If you would like more details on the problem with screen shots of the Fitbit app then please let me know where I can send them. Thanks!
