I recently updated my iPhone to ios13. Since then I get asked to change my choice for location services “only when app is open” to “always on”. I select “no thanks”, the next time I open or switch to the Fitbit app, it asks me the same thing again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again...(You get the picture). How do I get the app to remember my choice like it used to?
Moderator edit: updated subject for clarity
I have a Versa 2 and I just updated to the latest version of the Fitbit app (new as of 3 days ago) and it's gone! No more asking about Location preferences every single time I opened the app. AND, the recipe section when tracking your food now allows you to Dismiss and not show suggestions anymore. Yay! Both of those things were SUPER annoying.

Best AnswerIt’s 2021 and mine still does this! Every time I open the app, even when I switch back and forth between apps. Nothing works. I honestly can’t wait until my fitbit dies (and we all know these aren’t built for longevity) so I can switch brands. I check my app 20+ times a day and I’m still asked to switch my location services to Always. I don’t want my battery to die so quickly. And also, it’s none of your f*#£*^! business where I am if I don’t want you to track me.
How incredibly annoying that this is still an issue in 2021! I Googled my problem regarding this incessant notification- I’m currently logging calories and this has been frustrating enough that after 5 years of enjoying owning a Fitbit I am going to change brands unless it stops.
Same here. I have a Charge 3 and it’s my 5th Fitbit. Finally so sick of this that I am finally switching brands. They have great features but the software is really buggy and the hardware ridiculously poor quality. EACH of my Fitbits broke after less than 2 years. I mean really EACH and I mean broken electronics, not an actual physical damage.
Best AnswerThis issue has not been resolved, 2 years later! I have IOS 14.6, with Location Services set to NEVER for the FitBit app, and I am still prompted EVERY time I launch the FitBit app to turn on Location Services. As others have said, why give the illusion of choice if the reality is that FitBit will not accept any answer other than ‘Always On’?
Best AnswerFitbit is going to lose a lot of customers. I for one will never buy a Fitbit again because of this annoying message I think it’s ridiculous that they’re trying to force me to allow them to track my location. I will definitely be buying a different brand.
Best AnswerHey Lizzy… it’s been two years … when is the Fitbit coding team going To learn to respect your customers choices/privacy concerns and stop trying to force people into sharing their location? I only use my Fitbit for sleep tracking. I should not have to be forced to share my GPS data.
