App keeps asking choice for location services

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I recently updated my iPhone to ios13.  Since then  I get asked to change my choice for location services “only when app is open” to “always on”.  I select “no thanks”, the next time I open or switch to the Fitbit app, it asks me the same thing again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again...(You get the picture).  How do I get the app to remember my choice like it used to?

I have a Versa 2 and I just updated to the latest version of the Fitbit app (new as of 3 days ago) and it's gone! No more asking about Location preferences every single time I opened the app. AND, the recipe section when tracking your food now allows you to Dismiss and not show suggestions anymore. Yay! Both of those things were SUPER annoying.

Thanks for the update tip! For some reason it wasn’t showing in my App
updates so I did it manually….success! I’ll be going on a bike ride this
weekend, hopefully it doesn’t revert when I switch the tracking on for
that. Yay Fitbit for getting rid of the annoying pop ups.

Still happening for me despite manually forcing an upgrade to the latest version, force quitting and restarting the app.

How come this isn't fixed after so long. It's so annoying.

I have the same problem, I think fitbit needs a new coding team to fix bugs

Given that we are approaching the two-year mark, it looks much more like a feature, not a bug.

Maybe they don’t care to fix it because there are new products out there
and this may become annoying enough to where people will buy a newer model.
I’m curious if owners of the Versa 3 or Sense are having this issue. Grrr!
Best Answer
Despite ongoing issues with my Sense it does not have that issue. As I’ve
stated many times with Fitbit tech department they have the same pat
answers but little is ever remedied. Good luck with your Fitbit!

With this on top of the self breaking screen issue I'd never buy another
Versa. when this one finally dies I'm switching to apple watch

I am as well, they offered to replace my Sense but I’d have to send it and
be without for a few weeks, mind you my watch was 2 months old at the time.
Being without was not reasonable! So I muddle thru with an imperfect
Sense!🤦🏻‍:female_sign:

It’s 2021 and mine still does this! Every time I open the app, even when I switch back and forth between apps. Nothing works. I honestly can’t wait until my fitbit dies (and we all know these aren’t built for longevity) so I can switch brands. I check my app 20+ times a day and I’m still asked to switch my location services to Always. I don’t want my battery to die so quickly. And also, it’s none of your f*#£*^! business where I am if I don’t want you to track me.

This did not work.  Other suggestions?

Best Answer
Absolutely none whatsoever! I’m still getting the same pop up. I still
think it’s a ploy for people to get irritated enough to buy more product.

How incredibly annoying that this is still an issue in 2021!  I Googled my problem regarding this incessant notification- I’m currently logging calories and this has been frustrating enough that after 5 years of enjoying owning a Fitbit I am going to change brands unless it stops.

Same here. I have a Charge 3 and it’s my 5th Fitbit. Finally so sick of this that I am finally switching brands. They have great features but the software is really buggy and the hardware ridiculously poor quality. EACH of my Fitbits broke after less than 2 years. I mean really EACH and I mean broken electronics, not an actual physical damage.

This issue has not been resolved, 2 years later! I have IOS 14.6, with Location Services set to NEVER for the FitBit app, and I am still prompted EVERY time I launch the FitBit app to turn on Location Services. As others have said, why give the illusion of choice if the reality is that FitBit will not accept any answer other than ‘Always On’?

Fitbit is going to lose a lot of customers. I for one will never buy a Fitbit again because of this annoying message I think it’s ridiculous that they’re trying to force me to allow them to track my location. I will definitely be buying a different brand.

Hey Lizzy… it’s been two years … when is the Fitbit coding team going To learn to respect your customers choices/privacy concerns and stop trying to force people into sharing their location? I only use my Fitbit for sleep tracking. I should not have to be forced to share my GPS data.

I honestly think this is a Google issue, this only started after Google
bought Fitbit. Either way, the masses are as annoyed as you are and will
choose a different tracker once their current ones die. Fitbit needs to
take this complaint seriously, I’m all for being tracked for security
reasons but this issue is taking our ability to choose away and stomping on
our rights to privacy!
